X-Men. What's All The Rage?

I'll tell you what! It's AWESOME.

I've never seen an X-Men movie in my life until last night's Prequel, X-Men First Class.

SO good! I can't wait to see all the previous ones that have been made now.

I've always loved Marvel Superhero movies but this one is definitely one of my new faves.

Spiderman is still in first place for me. (Am I the only one in the world who LOVED the third one? It was my fave.)

Anyway, my favorite characters in X-Men had to be Mystique (I love how insecure she was and then she found her confidence like a REAL woman should!) and I also loved Havok. I liked him because unlike the other Mutants, he had this attitude about him. He wasn't timid or insecure. He was very confident...and kind of a bad ass.

Speaking of bad ass, Magneto was crazy. Nuts even! I want to be a mutant! :(

A Relaxing Weekend

I barely did anything this weekend.
I'm not going to lie, it was spectacular.
Friday night, John took me out for dinner to a really nice Italian Restaurant (I say it was to celebrate our 6 month...if you talk to him, he'd probably tease me about it and say it was just something to do on a Friday night. I disagree. :) hehe) It was way too pricey but it was still a nice night out. After that, we just went home and pretty much vegged on the couch. We watched the Eddie Murphy "RAW" comedy show. It was hilarious!!!
Saturday we went and saw the Hangover 2. It was honestly the same movie as the first one. I think it would have been way funnier if instead of focusing on the next days (and the same events as the Hangover 1) it should have focused on their actual night. That would have been hilarious and something different.
After that, I made us a delicious dinner of Chicken Fajitas. I made everything on my own. I marinaded the chicken and everything! I'm becoming quite the little chef.
And then no word of a lie, we literaly played New Super Mario Bros and played 2 games of scrabble. Yep! We're definitely party animals!
The next day I cleaned my bathroom and my bedroom and then went to a nice dinner with my Nona. After that, we went and saw Beauty and the Beast playing at the Auditorium. Can I just say it was ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE? So amazing. I was crying at the end and was just completely blown away. I never thought I'd see such a spectacular performance come to my little city of T.Bay.
So amazing.

This weekend was much needed. The past 1003037289478923 weekends I've been so busy so it was nice to just relax and not do too much.

My Funny Weekend

Lately I've just been insanely happy.
I have very little to complain about and this weekend was another example of why my life is so good right now!

Friday: I had tons of fun at a comedy show. The headliner was John Camponera! He was HIlarious!!! SOO funny. I was crying laughing. And then afterwards we went to the Madhouse (a local bar) where I sat with him and some of the opener comedians, and I felt so happy because I was making the headliner die laughing. Who knew I was so funny? Ha!

Saturday: I went to an ice show that I won tickets for but me and my friends left early because we were SO bored (sorry, kids!). So we went to the mall! Where I spent more money that I don't have (sigh). After that, my Boy came over and we ordered pizza and wings and watched Scream 2. Unfortnately, Johnnycakes fell asleep so I was up by myself watching this movie... not impressed. So I turned it off and I STILL don't know who the killer is (sshhhh don't tell me!). We went to sleep at 11 that night. Yeah, I'm only 21 and that was my Saturday. Oh well, I wouldn't change it for the world! :)

Sunday: John and I went and saw Rio. It was REALLY cute. I recommend if you are in the mood for some light hearted animation. After that, I went to the gym (thank goodness!) and then had dinner with my family. Also, have you ever heard of the book "the Game of Thrones"? The TV show premiered last night on HBO so we went over to our friend Trevor and Taryn's house to watch it. It was good. Also Vancouver won last night! In your face Chicago. :)

P.S. I never used to be a Hockey fan but dating one of the biggest hockey fans in the world is quickly changing that. My heart was racing in the last 10 minutes of the game last night. I would have been so sad if Chicago scored.

P.P.S (or is it P.S.S.? I'm not sure...): I'm so excited for what my future has in store for me regarding so many different things. I can't wait for what comes next! :) Hopefully involving some sort of independence...

Soul Surfer: Inspiration

Everybody needs to drop what they are doing this very minute and go see this movie!

Never in my life have I seen a movie that has uplifted me the way this one did. I was crying throughout the whole thing, both happy and sad tears.

It was incredibly inspiring the way this girl lost her arm when she was on the road to being a professional surfer but then didn't give up on her dreams! She continued on her path of surfing and was still awesome at it after lots of practise.

Not to mention, at one point in the movie they go to Thailand to help with the Tsunami relief. Can I just say, that as bad as it is, I've been incredibly ignorant with world issues until this movie? Everytime a natural disaster happens, I think it's terrible, but I don't think too much more on it. But this movie really opened up my eyes to that and now I just feel awful.

I was still crying to John 2 hours after the movie ended (he must think I'm such a disaster) but I couldn't help it... I was just so sad. I still feel sad.

And it just made me realize ever more what I want to do with my life... I just want to help people.

I feel like if I stay in this industry, I'm not making a difference. And I just want to make a difference for people who have had things happen to them out of their control... and well...just make them feel better.

That's what I need. I know this.

So where am I going to start?

Well, considering I can't go to school for it yet, I'm going to volunteer. Big Brothers Big Sisters to start.

I wanted to do Children's Aid Society, but you have to commit for one year and I don't know if I can do that right now. Where as Big Brothers Big Sisters you commit to UP to one year.

I'm really excited to get started with that because I think it will definitely help lift me up into the right direction.

Right now, I feel like I'm kind of in this rut and I think this is a good way to get out of it. It'll help me feel better and I'll be helping out someone in need and the community.

Monday Sleeze: Movies

You want to know something?
I used to LOVE cheesy movies. Absolutely love them.
And don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the odd said "bad movie" now and again (see HERE for an Ashley Tisdale guilty pleasure) however, lately I've been noticing that I've been wanting to watch actual GOOD movies. You know, things that get nominated for awards like the Oscars and Golden Globes.

Like these for example among many others:

 

Not even just movies like that, though. I still love well done Romantic Comedies as well.

For example, I love love love love love

 No Strings Attached (let's disregard my bias to my absolute adoration for Natalie Portman),

The Switch,

and Just Go With It just to name a few RECENT Rom' Com's.

But when I see movies like these:

It makes me question great actress' like Amanda Seyfried's acting abilities. But, of course, we couldn't expect more from Vanessa Hudgens. Movies like these match one of my oscar nominee's.

I'm sorry...I'm all for fantasy based fairy tale re-makes ... but these movies were horrific.

My Weekend and an Oscar Rant

Hi everyone!

Hope all of your weekend were just fantastic!

I didn't really do much this weekend, to be honest with you... it was very relaxing.

However, I did spend $90 dollars yesterday at the mall. I pretty much indulged myself in casual clothes to wear when I'm NOT working.

I did go to the gym. On my own. And you know what's funny? I actually WANTED to go. (Side note: I'm going to BOSU Ball class tonight... Be prepared for a "Why did I do that to myself" post. Ha!)

I spent a lot of time with my family and catching up on shows.

I spent a lot of time with John also.

And last but not least, John and I made a really delicious dinner last night! We made a pizza ... with pre-made pizza dough and pre-made sauce (one day I'm going to take a day and make my own crust and my own sauce though) and then he made a delicious caeser salad. We then enjoyed some beer and watched the Oscars! It was such a wonderful night!!

HOWEVER

I don't even think you want to know my opinion on "The King's Speech" winning Best Motion Picture. ARE YOU SERIOUS? I mean, it was a well made movie and all, but the other movies deserved it far more. I'm sorry, but "The King's Speech" was boring. It was well made, well acted and well written, but it was boring.

A movie like "127 hours" which pretty much ONLY had James Franco in it, and managed to hold our attention throughout the whole thing was far more deserving.

Or True Grit with that little 14 year old girl who was absolutely phenomonal with an exciting adventure and a hilarious Jeff Bridges...far more deserving!

The Social Network which every aspect had me involved, from the soundtrack to the story to the acting....LIKE COME ON!!

So annoyed!

But whateva.

Oscars 2011

I just want to say how excited I am for the Oscars this year!
Don't you just LOVE this hosting duo?
Both of these actors have come such a long way lately...they are definitely what I'd call SUPERSTARS!

It's going to be fun though... me and my boyfriend are going to make a ton of food...maybe have some wine and just get all cuddled up and watch the show!

It's going to be awesome.

Who do you think is going to take home the most awards?

I'm kind of thinking Black Swan and the Fighter. I'm sorry..but Christian Bale: even though you're kind of a jerk, your acting in this movie was absolutely amazing. I have no words.
And Natalie Portman, everything you touch turns to gold. You are fantastic.

Ohhh! I can't wait!

Worst Night Ever and Abigail Breslin

I'm pretty sure that last night's cramps could compare to giving birth to a 12 pound child.

I didn't know pain like that existed for my time of the month.

Have you seen Little Miss Sunshine? I love Abigail Breslin. She's just the cutest thing?

Fishnets, Movies, and Vacays.

I wore these tights to work today, not quite sure what to expect. I obsessed and obsessed wondering if they were "work appropriate" or not and then it got worse when a comment was made saying they were a bit scandalous.

What do you think?

Personally, I think they are fashionable and vintage as opposed to sexy... I probably won't wear them to work ever again though. I think I'll just stick to my solid black tights. Yes, I think that is a good decision.

P.S. Have you seen Morning Glory yet? It is SUCH a good movie with such a great soundtrack. Something about this movie just captivates my attention. I like how it's not so focused on the romance between Rachel McAdams' character and the sexy producer from a different show and more aimed at the friendship she builds with the bitter News Anchor.

Last but not least, I had a great time in Duluth with a few friends I hadn't seen in a while! I don't really want to post pictures as none of them are really flattering but it was a very fun trip nonetheless filled with spending an extreme amount of money and eating WAY too much food. I bought some cute new clothes though, for what it's worth and had a LOT of laughs.

Breakfast at Tiffany's

“Let’s not say another word; let’s just go to sleep”

My spirits felt a little low this evening so I decided to do something to cheer myself up.
I rented a movie; but not any movie, Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
It seemed like a good film choice: No die-hard special effects, no teeny-bopper actor’s or actresses trying to fit in with slutty society. Just a good story. Simplicity is what I was looking for.
Simplicity. What does this word even mean anymore? I thought I knew-but I really don’t have a clue.
For Holly Golightly, it’s so easy for her to just crawl in a man’s window, have a nice conversation with him, a drink and a cigarette, and then crawl into his bed and say “Let’s not say another word; let’s just go to sleep”. Keep in mind-she just met this guy that very day.
I know it’s just a movie-but it seems so easy for her to open herself up to a complete stranger. Why does it have to be so hard for me to open myself up to somebody I know?
I’m being naive. I know the reasons. But please, I’m begging you reasons. Go away and let me be happy. Truly, infinitely happy. Please.
