Camp or "Cottage"

John's camp (or Cottage for 90% of you out there...) is by far my favorite place in the world.
It's nice because we can go out there on weeknights when we have to work in the morning because the lake is incredibly close to town.
Basically our nights are spent sauna-ing, going swimming if it's warm enough, having some drinks (my preference: Corona with Lime! mmm) and John cooking up a DELICIOUS bbq. I'm telling you, he's the BBQ guru! SO good.

I think now with my new job and with him starting at 11 for the next 10 weeks, we'll probably have more ability to go out there because we won't have to wake up so early. I have a feeling this summer is going to be spent mainly by the lake. :)

Huge, Massive Changes

My life has managed to spin in a completely different direction that I ever dreamed possible.
The biggest thing is that I quit my full time Creative Writing job to be a server at Swiss Chalet.
Let me explain.
My contract in writing is up come August and there were no opportunities here for me when it's over. So after 2 years, I decided to look for work elsewhere in preperation for going back to school in September! ANOTHER huge change. I'll be taking the Child & Youth Care program which I believe will make me happier in the long run anyway then working in media. At the end of the day, I'll be able to say that I helped people and that means a lot to me. I'll still be working as a part time Weather Anchor at the station for the extra experience & money. Basically, come September, I'll be SUPER busy as I'll be studying, working and trying to pay for everything I have to pay for. I'm getting tired just thinking about it! But I'm 100% sure I can do this as I am one determined cookie. And when you're determined, you can do anything!

The pictures above are from last night when John & I went out to the lake!!! I was telling him last night that I'm the happiest when we're out there in the quiet. Everytime we go, we just have such a blast. It's always the same thing.. BBQing a delicious dinner, having some drinks, sauna's, and talking until we get tired. I wish we could live out there but alas...

Weekend

I really need to start taking pictures.

What a great weekend I had!

I went to see Harry Potter, which was AMAZING.
I cried. Obviously.

Saturday went out and played "Pub Golf" with a bunch of John's friends. Let's just say I happily opted out of this game. Those boys have much more practice than I do when it comes to drinking... I don't know how they do it.

Sunday went out to camp for the day with John's family. It was his sister, his cousin and his aunt's birthday and what a FAB day it was! It was so hot...45 degrees with the humidity! We basically sat outside in the sun all day with bits of food and Sangria and roasted away. We had a delicious dinner in the sweltering heat and as soon as I was done eating, I jumped in the lake. I HAD to! My body was overheating and there was no way I would survive sitting out in the sun any longer...dry!
It eventually started to rain cats and dogs and do you wanna know what we did? Nothing! We didn't move. We stayed in our seats outside and welcomed that rain with open arms!

You know it's a hot day, when!

Sunshine, Comedy and BBQ's

This weekend was exactly what I needed, however I'd be lying if I said I wasn't completely worn out from it.

Friday night we went to this comedy show which I had really low expectations for, but ended up having a great time. By the end of the night though, my throat started to really hurt so I had to exchange the wine for Orange Juice. My reasoning for this was me and John were headed to camp the next morning!

So yes, the next morning we went out to his camp and basically baked out in the sun all day while having delicious day drinks and snacks.

The evening was even better because as I've probably mentioned, John is an amazing BBQ Whiz and whipped up the most delicious T Bone steak (marinaded with Crown Royale? so good. don't knock it till you've tried it) and bbq'ed peppers and potatoes and a yummy salad with LOTS of veggies.

Then we watched the hockey game in which I fell asleep twice because I was so exhausted... and then of course went to bed after (we won) and fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

Waking up at camp is ALWAYS the best feeling in the world...there's nothing like going outside first thing in the AM and breathing in that crisp fresh air of nature's outdoors :).

We sort of just did the same thing as the previous day... ate and sat outside. Got burnt. You know...the usual. And then had another BBQ with his parents.

AND THEN came home, and saw Xmen really late at night so therefore I'm exhausted today. Ugh!

I really need to go home and sleep...

Weekly Gratitude: May 20th

Even though I haven't gone to the gym this week and have been eating my own weight in junk food, I've had a pretty good week.
Let's begin, shall we?

• Thank you to all of the warm weather we've been getting! Nice weather only means more time spent out at camp! And camp is the only place I like to be in the Summer. Unfortunately, this isn't realistic so those times spent at camp are all the more sacred!
• Thank you to BBQ's! There's nothing more seasonal than a delicious BBQ and sitting outside while it's being made and eating it outside too!
• Thank you to reading delicious books while sitting out in...YOU GUESSED IT! The warm, warm weather. I love love love reading in the Summer. That's usually when I read the most, is in the summer.
• Thank you to the wonderful weekend I'm about to have! I really really need it. It's going to be lovely and I can't wait share it all with you on Tuesday when I return from all my wild adventures. :) Hehe.

Give Me The Summer!

For all you bloggers who I follow who live in Arizona or Utah etc...let me just tell you a little bit about where I live.

I live in this little place in Northern Ontario that only has warmth and summer for about 4 months. It's awful.

So you can imagine how excited I am for May...June...July...August to arrive.

There's so much that I love about summer.

Whether it's going to camp and just being outside enjoying the warm weather...

...or sitting at the end of the dock when it's dark out and just staring up at the stars...

...Saunas, jumping in the lake, peeing in an outhouse :)...

...walking the dogs in shorts and a tank...

...sitting outside by the pool enjoying a good summer read...

...road trips...

gas station stops...

Oh gosh, the list could go on and on...

BRIGHT BRIGHT spirits! A "never been happier" Post for all you CYNICS out there!

I just have such a wonderful feeling in my stomach.

Something I'm not sure I've really felt before?

I just feel so excited about my life and the place I'm in right now. I'm excited for the things that I'd like to do but have no official plans.

For example, this Christmas. I'm excited to feel genuinly happy with all of those I care about throughout the Holidays. Something about Christmas just feels so much better when you are happy with yourself and aren't putting on some sort of act.

Also, I'm excited for the Summer. There's nothing better than taking a road trip. And you know what I'd like to try? Being spontaneous and just driving. Having no plans on where I'm going but just...driving. As far as I want in whatever direction I want. Doesn't that just seem fabulous?

Also tentative vacations. Tentative vacations are fantastic.

Chicago for Easter will be lovely!

I just love life!!! Being happy is great.


However if this cold persists...It might take away from my Christmas Spirit...just a little.

Because I Need To Start Posting More Pictures...

I noticed that my favorite bloggers will post many pictures so I'm going to start doing that to make my blog easier on the eyes...

Big Cities...I went to Chicago and it was one of the best experiences of my life!

Musicals! I went to see Wicked in Chicago. It was great! 

All 4 of my crazy dogs. The one you see in the pic below is Cujo. I also have Walter, Isabella and Nova. If we are going to start naming all animals, I also have a lizard which I've taken a new liking to. (It's only taken me 4 years)

Kingdom Hearts! I'm stuck on the new game though. Someone please help me!

Harry Potter! Is it sad that I'm going to cry myself to sleep the night of the final movie?

Fable. I like this pic of it because it reminds me why I like the game (I love the scenery!)

So these are only a few of my favorite things but the computer I am on is really "laggy" so it's hard to find decent pics. I promise I'll start taking more pictures though of myself and the funny shenanagins I get up to to make this blog more enjoyable for all of you out there.
