Looking Ahead: Places I Want To Go

Being at the young age of 21, I often think about the things that I want in my future. These include getting married, having a family and a career, a nice house to call home. But I can't turn my back on something I really really want...and that is to travel. I feel like before I can do all those other things, I want to see the world. But if life happens and my plan is changed and my list becomes out of order, I will have to accept that.

But for now, I can still dream.

Here are some of the places I would love to see:

New York City
Hawaii
 Australia
 Lake Tahoe
 Los Angeles
 New Zealand
Paris

And last but not least...

Disney World!
This one is special because I'm actually going next year with my family! In April or May. Please don't tell me either of these months are hurricane season though.. that would be just a little bit of a damper!

I'm curious... where do you all want to go?!

Cupcakes!

I don't think I've ever had such an intense craving for cupcakes in my entire life.

I think it's from all the blog posts about Sprinkles in places like L.A. and New York.

So the God's must have heard about my craving because what opened up in my little city? A Cupcake Place!! Yep! I'm so lucky!

Sure it's no Gourmet Cupcake but whatever. It's still a cupcake! YAY!

I'm going there today at lunch and I'm going to get a whole pack!

My Funny Weekend

Lately I've just been insanely happy.
I have very little to complain about and this weekend was another example of why my life is so good right now!

Friday: I had tons of fun at a comedy show. The headliner was John Camponera! He was HIlarious!!! SOO funny. I was crying laughing. And then afterwards we went to the Madhouse (a local bar) where I sat with him and some of the opener comedians, and I felt so happy because I was making the headliner die laughing. Who knew I was so funny? Ha!

Saturday: I went to an ice show that I won tickets for but me and my friends left early because we were SO bored (sorry, kids!). So we went to the mall! Where I spent more money that I don't have (sigh). After that, my Boy came over and we ordered pizza and wings and watched Scream 2. Unfortnately, Johnnycakes fell asleep so I was up by myself watching this movie... not impressed. So I turned it off and I STILL don't know who the killer is (sshhhh don't tell me!). We went to sleep at 11 that night. Yeah, I'm only 21 and that was my Saturday. Oh well, I wouldn't change it for the world! :)

Sunday: John and I went and saw Rio. It was REALLY cute. I recommend if you are in the mood for some light hearted animation. After that, I went to the gym (thank goodness!) and then had dinner with my family. Also, have you ever heard of the book "the Game of Thrones"? The TV show premiered last night on HBO so we went over to our friend Trevor and Taryn's house to watch it. It was good. Also Vancouver won last night! In your face Chicago. :)

P.S. I never used to be a Hockey fan but dating one of the biggest hockey fans in the world is quickly changing that. My heart was racing in the last 10 minutes of the game last night. I would have been so sad if Chicago scored.

P.P.S (or is it P.S.S.? I'm not sure...): I'm so excited for what my future has in store for me regarding so many different things. I can't wait for what comes next! :) Hopefully involving some sort of independence...

Monday Sleeze: Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller

I'm beyond over this.

Clean up your acts...you have kids!

P.S. Look at how beautiful she is? And look how much she's screwing her life up.

So sad.

Fashion Post: Summer with Tights

Hey everyone!
So this is my first fashion post.
Now, I'm not much of a "fashionista" but sometimes I can put together a cute little outfit.

It's almost summer time and you know what that means, right?
Summer dresses!
But if you work in an office building, it might be deemed appropriate to wear short articles of clothing.

So that's why I've been reppin' them with the tights! Take a look!

It's still Spring so when I'm outside, it always looks nice to wear a fashionable trench. I like to wear beige heels to but the ones I have kill my feet! The black shoes work too.

Here's me and my ridiculous posing skills. The look without the trench!

Sorry, I don't have the best quality camera!

Have a great weekend!

Trench: Suzy Shier
Tank: Winners
Skirt: Suzy Shier
Shoes: Aldo
Ring: Handmedown.

Weekly Gratitude: April 15th

If you've read my previous post you know how inspired I feel right now.
It's been such a great week and today is just such a great day to do a Weekly Gratitude...so here it goes!

  • Thank you so much to my love for giving me such a fantastic week. I feel like we're in such a great place and I couldn't be happier with you. Also, thanks for taking such amazing care of me throughout my recovery. You were always by my side, holding me, wiping my tears, getting me ice cream. :) I'll never forget that.
  • Thank you sooooo much for whoever made "Soul Surfer". One of the most inpsirational, uplifting movies I have ever seen. Truly amazing. I can't wait to give back to the world in some way and this movie has definitely gave me a boost in the right direction.
  • Thank you to my dogs for always putting a smile on my face. You boys are just too goofy!
  • Thanks to places like Wal Mart and Ardenes for allowing me to be such a thrifty shopper! $10 shoes? Yes please!!!!!
  • Thanks to the weekend! You couldn't have come sooner and I'm very anxious for you. It's definitely going to be a good one.
  • Thanks to Spring for being semi warm enough for me to wear my cute summer dresses! Yay Summer!
  • Thanks to my satin pillow sheets. I think you are helping with my skin (stupid acne!) and you are just so nice to rest my head on!
  • Thanks to CP's. Always brightens my day. :) hehe.
Love love.

What are you thankful for?!

Soul Surfer: Inspiration

Everybody needs to drop what they are doing this very minute and go see this movie!

Never in my life have I seen a movie that has uplifted me the way this one did. I was crying throughout the whole thing, both happy and sad tears.

It was incredibly inspiring the way this girl lost her arm when she was on the road to being a professional surfer but then didn't give up on her dreams! She continued on her path of surfing and was still awesome at it after lots of practise.

Not to mention, at one point in the movie they go to Thailand to help with the Tsunami relief. Can I just say, that as bad as it is, I've been incredibly ignorant with world issues until this movie? Everytime a natural disaster happens, I think it's terrible, but I don't think too much more on it. But this movie really opened up my eyes to that and now I just feel awful.

I was still crying to John 2 hours after the movie ended (he must think I'm such a disaster) but I couldn't help it... I was just so sad. I still feel sad.

And it just made me realize ever more what I want to do with my life... I just want to help people.

I feel like if I stay in this industry, I'm not making a difference. And I just want to make a difference for people who have had things happen to them out of their control... and well...just make them feel better.

That's what I need. I know this.

So where am I going to start?

Well, considering I can't go to school for it yet, I'm going to volunteer. Big Brothers Big Sisters to start.

I wanted to do Children's Aid Society, but you have to commit for one year and I don't know if I can do that right now. Where as Big Brothers Big Sisters you commit to UP to one year.

I'm really excited to get started with that because I think it will definitely help lift me up into the right direction.

Right now, I feel like I'm kind of in this rut and I think this is a good way to get out of it. It'll help me feel better and I'll be helping out someone in need and the community.

Lifestyle Thursdays: Skin Care

If any of you out there suffer from the annoying, inevitable acne problem like I do, then read this:

Last year it was red bumps that would appear all over my forehead.
This fall it was huge under the skin blemishes that would appear on my chin.
Now it's whiteheads that are popping up on my forehead.

I feel like no matter what I do, I can't seem to get rid of this stupid problem.

But then this weekend, I discovered something that actually worked!
And no, it wasn't the skin burning Proactive.
But something much smaller and easier to use.

SpectroJel AcneCare Vanishing Lotion!

This stuff removed my acne in like, a day! It actually works!

Plus I use this facial wash MORNING AND NIGHT:

Tersaseptic!
This stuff helps to keep your skin as clear as possible.

FUN FACT/HELPFUL TIP: LEMON JUICE! Use this morning and night with a little cotton ball all over your face to help keep skin clear, glowing AND to get rid of those AWFUL acne scars. Yuck!

Also make sure to drink lots of water because that will help keep skin clear too. Healthy eating and exercise don't hurt either!

XOXO!

Jellybeans!

I just want everybody who's reading this to know that I have an addiction. And to please check me into a rehabilitation facility.

Kthx.

Inspirational Wednesdays: Shake What Your Momma Gave Ya!

A Fat Day.
I'm sure you've had them. Especially if you're a girl.
Maybe you work out 3-5 times a week and eat healthy all the time but the one day you eat 4 slices of pizza you feel as if you're pregnant.
It's natural to feel this way sometimes no matter what your diet or physical routine is.

I've been going to the gym since January now which is the longest I've ever gone with exercise in my life.
I've never felt better about myself when it comes to my body and my overall health.
It feels great.
And I still eat whatever I want.

However, I'd be lying to myself if I said that I always felt great.
I don't.

But listen to this story and it may or may not help you feel better:

So on Saturday night, me and my boyfriend, John stayed up late having a few drinks while talking about many different topics. One of them being girls and their self esteem issues and how girls never seem to be happy with what they are given regarding their bodies. Maybe they think their stomach bloats out too much or their boobs aren't big enough. And John had this to say,

Girls seem to think that they have to have a tight stomach or bigger boobs. But a confident size 12 is so much sexier than an insecure size 3.
So basically the message I'm trying to get across is eat those 4 slices of pizza if you want! You're still going to look great. As long as you keep a healthy and active lifestyle that helps you feel better about yourself inside and out, life is so much more worth it when you treat yourself every once in a while. I would be SO bored if I didn't let myself eat some chips while watching a movie or order a salad with no dressing when I go out to eat just so my stomach stays flat. That is just no way to live!

I'd rather live my day to day by having fun and being happy while keeping up with exercise and a higher ratio of a healthier diet compared to "junk food". But I'll definitely still eat my pizza, chomp on a burger, have some chips, candy and ice cream if that means I'm happier.

And remember ladies, confidence is sexy! If you love yourself, that will reflect onto other people which in the long run will help keep you happy and glowing. And remember that quote up there because guys think it too!

Never try and change yourself for somebody else because you're beautiful in your own skin. I know insecurities are inevitable but try and embrace what your Momma gave ya because that's what you're stuck with!

Live your life. Be happy.

Love xoxo.

My Lovely Weekend

My weekend was one of the loveliest I've had in a long time.
I was still recovering from my Tonsil Surgery  so obviously I had to take it easy.
And I did, but somehow still managed to have fun. Which was much needed, because let me tell you, having to sit in bed all day for a week is NOT fun. Not at all. It's actually really depressing. So you can imagine how happy I was to actually go out and do some things this weekend. I even got to eat!

Friday during the day I made a mall trip with some close friends and I bought a few new cute things for barely any money. It felt so good to prepare for Summer through fashion! I'm wearing one of my outfits today and hopefully I'll remember to take a picture tonight so I can show you all! Friday night I went to see the movie, Your Highness (hilarious) with some friends. It was supposed to be a triple date but  we ended up seeing a few people we knew there and turned into a group outing. After that me and my Man had a cozy night! Mmm so warm! :)

Saturday, John asked me if I wanted to help set up for this 80's night event for one of his Promotion's for work and of course I said yes! We basically just had to put up banner tape sponsoring our radio station (we work at the same place...just not in the same department) but it was a lot of fun! After that, we went to Boston Pizza and had pizza, wings and beer. And considering it had been so long since I could eat REAL food, I definitely took advantage of this. So delicious! After that we proceeded to have a few more drinks while watching Hockey. It was such a nice night. We stayed up for so long just talking and sharing deep and intimate thoughts (one of which I'll share with you tomorrow).

Sunday we sort of lazed around the house and didn't do much of anything. Me and John saw a movie during the day (The Source Code...highly recommend) and then I went and spent some time with my Mother. Then sort of late at night, I got back together with the boyfriend and we watched Scream and had some junk food. It was just a really relaxing day (you know, with all of the Golf Ball sized hail our city got that night. So insane!)

Stay tuned tomorrow for one of the most inspiring thoughts a guy has ever shared with me.
For all you ladies who may be insecure with your bodies, you do NOT want to miss this.

Xoxo

Blogging: Added Happiness

Let me just start out by saying that this day has been busy. I've been at work, yes. But I haven't been working.
No, I've been catching up on all the posts from my Favorite Bloggers!!!!

And yes, I know I've said this before but I just need to sit again.

Readings the posts that these lovely ladies take the time to write, never fail to brighten my day.

I find their stories, their fashion, their marraiges, and just in general their everyday lives uplifting and inspiring.

When I first started blogging, I had my own interests such as movies, TV Shows, the outdoors, etc. But once I met all these new ladies via the blogging world, I've learned so many new things. I've learned delicious recipes, how to piece together an outfit (coloured leggings and bow tie headbands!) how to live a happy life, how to appreciate a drive, etc, etc.

I just can't get enough.

And as if I wasn't content enough, going through these blogs (I'm still not done catching up on them post surgery...so many posts!!!!) just make me even happier!

I'll post tomorrow on the reasons I'm so content. So stay tuned.

Love, love love.!!!

Oh. P.S. Check out the Violet (click on the button on my side bar to get to the site--->).

I wrote in a comment and I'm lucky enough to get featured! The first issue hasn't been released yet where my comment will be featured but when it does, you know I will be telling you.

The Violet is actually started by one of the most loveliest of bloggers Camilla and her friend. I honestly believe that it is one of the best ideas ever. I'm all about uplifting and inspirational ways of life and that's what the Violet is. It's so wonderful. So quick! Go now!!!!

xoxo

I'm Back!

Hi everyone!

I'm so sorry for the no post session I had this past week.

I was recovering from a painful surgery which were in fact the removal of my tonsils!

Stay tuned for a post to happen later on today...

Inspirational Wednesday's

Last night I went to a spin class for the 2nd time and you know what? I actually REALLY enjoyed it.

I'm not gonna lie, the first 10-20 minutes I was dying but after that, I started getting really into it. It was a lot of fun! I'll definitely go again.

My only concern is that my legs aren't sore today. I feel like they should be sore?!?!

Anyway, I was telling my boyfriend last night about how I felt really good at that moment. (It was probably 11 o clock at night). My body just felt really healthy and...well, I just can't explain the feeling. It just felt good.

Keep in mind, John goes to the gym 3 times a week. He's in really good shape.

Anyway, do you know what he said in response to my comment?

He said, "That's how I feel everyday."

And just hearing that really inspired me to keep my motivation up; to keep going to the gym, staying active and healthy!

Oh... Did you know I've been going to the gym now since January? I think taken 2 weeks off total from going. No wonder why I feel so great. I also lost 8 pounds since then. Personally, I don't really notice any weight loss, but I definitely notice definition.

Wow! I've impressed myself!

My Tonsils Are Getting Removed

Thursday morning: My tonsils are getting removed from my throat.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous. I really hate surgeries.

How much time do you think I'll need off from work?

I'm scared!

What are tonsils for anyway?

Me and one of my co-workers were having this discussion yesterday.

Why are we able to live without tonsils??? What is their purpose that they are in our body but we can functino without them?

Just like if you have to get one of your kidney's removed...why are you able to live with just one? Isn't there something that these body parts are working for? I just don't get it.

Anyway,

wish me luck!

xoxo.

Monday Sleeze: Movies

You want to know something?
I used to LOVE cheesy movies. Absolutely love them.
And don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the odd said "bad movie" now and again (see HERE for an Ashley Tisdale guilty pleasure) however, lately I've been noticing that I've been wanting to watch actual GOOD movies. You know, things that get nominated for awards like the Oscars and Golden Globes.

Like these for example among many others:

Not even just movies like that, though. I still love well done Romantic Comedies as well.

For example, I love love love love love

No Strings Attached (let's disregard my bias to my absolute adoration for Natalie Portman),

The Switch,

and Just Go With It just to name a few RECENT Rom' Com's.

But when I see movies like these:

It makes me question great actress' like Amanda Seyfried's acting abilities. But, of course, we couldn't expect more from Vanessa Hudgens. Movies like these match one of my oscar nominee's.

I'm sorry...I'm all for fantasy based fairy tale re-makes ... but these movies were horrific.

Weekly Gratitude: March 25th

This week I am thankful for:

  • the delicious chili that my boyfriend & friends made for charity! So amazing. I've never tried anything like it. The only negative? I'm going to crave it and it won't be available for me at all times. Sigh. Life is so hard!
  • I'm thankful for my free movies that I always get. It makes date nights affordable and fun!
  • My lip chap! It woul make for a long day if I didn't have lip chap.
  • My new book! "It's Kind of a Funny Story". I just bought it on Wednesday and I'm already halfway done! I just can't put it down!!!
  • Even though I have no clients at work anymore, I'm still keeping fairly busy doing other things. I'm happy that they have found things for me to do.
  • Water. I never used to like it, but now I find it cleansing and satisfying.
Have a great weekend!

It's Kind of a Funny Story

I'm very sorry to anyone who loves the book "the Hunger Games" but I just could NOT get into it.

I have only 40 pages left to read and I couldn't bring myself to finish, so I just had my sister tell me what happened and I am SO happy I didn't waste my time.

It's not that the concept wasn't good or the characters weren't well developed, but I just don't like that sort of story. A story about gathering food and hunting people and trying to survive. It's just not for me.

So instead, I went to Chapters and bought a brand new book that I've been interested in for a while!

Have you heard of the movie, "It's Kind of a Funny Story"?
Well did you know that movie is based on a book? I didn't until I saw it and it looked SO interesting.

And I'm so beyond happy that I bought it (on sale for $8.50) because I'm only 40 pages in and it is already amazing.

Don't get me wrong, it is very dark and sort of depressing, but the writing style is so conversational. It's natural and life like.

I'm so excited to see the direction this book goes in and to meet the other characters.

I can't say too much about it now but I will be sure to let you know how I like it when I'm finished (and I will finish it!)

I'm so happy I found a book that I like. I was definitely in a reading rut.

Some other books I'd like to read after I'm done this one:

I own this one just haven't read it yet.

Something about reading is magical, isn't it? You get to just enter this whole other world. Someone else's world. And something about that is just so surreal.

Have a great Thursday!

Lifestyle Thursdays: The Bra Top

I think this section of the week is quickly becoming my absolute favorite!
I get to take pieces of clothing or makeup ideas that I've seen throughout the week and show them all to you!
So wonderful!

As we all know, the much anticipated season of SUMMER is coming up and what better way to celebrate than a shift in your wardrobe?

Have you ever heard of Victoria's Secret's Bra Top?
Such a fantastic invention! You can get them in either t-shirts, tanks or dresses!!!

Take a look:

I've been noticing a trend with my love for white articles of summer clothing!!! So seasonal and SO fresh looking! Love love love!!!

If you have either a Victoria's Secret Catalogue OR the THE INTERNET, I suggest ordering the BRA TOP because there are killer sales on right now!!

They also have bathing suits for dynamic prices.

Bye, Summer Beauties :D

P.S. One week exactly until my tonsils are removed from my throat. Eek!

Inspirational Wednesday's

Have you ever had to enter a contest where you had to write an entry in order to be chosen?

Well a girl I know just won a National Contest where she won a car!!

She wrote in a very well thought out entry and got chosen over a TON of people.

It kind of makes me think that when I enter contests, to not be so vague and simple minded. I need to have something well thought out and very unique. I must think OUTSIDE of the box!
